Field trip tomorrow:
Tomorrow is the Gr. 1 field trip to the Children’s Festival to see Fred Penner. Please be sure to send your child with snack and a lunch and be sure to feed them a big breakfast. Students will be responsible for carrying their own things in their backpacks for the day so pack lightly. Dress for the weather as some of the festival is outdoors.
Parent Volunteers: Could you kindly be at the school at 8:30am for your group list and itinerary for the day. Busses are leaving at 9:00am and we will be back at approximately 2:20pm.

Highlights:
We had our first Netball class today in the gym. We learned the rules of the game and practiced shooting the ball in the hoop.

Today we discussed what life might have been like 100-200 years ago.  I wonder how people got to school?  What did they use as a pencil? Parents/Grandparents: have a discussion with your child about what life was like when you were growing up. How are things different now?

Dream Box: Dreambox is an interactive math program that the students have been working on here at school.  We encourage the students to log in at home and practice developing their problem solving skills. Teachers are able to track their progress and see what areas they are excelling in or that may need improvement. Here is the link: https://play.dreambox.com/login/dq8q/panoramahs

Home Reading – Please have your child read around 20 minutes every night.  Don’t forget to engage your child by talking to them about the text.  Being a good reader is more than just knowing the words!!  Good readers will: make connections, ask and answer questions, visualize the text, make inferences and transform their thinking.

Alternatives to Traditional Reading – Part of being a good reader is understanding how to tell a story!  Sometimes listening to a good book is just as educational as reading a good book. Please check out the links below for alternatives for those days where you’d like to a change of pace.
