Highlights
We had our grapheme quiz today on the 6
sounds we learned this week. We have
visited the learning commons and have discussed with Mrs. Keale (our Librarian)
how to borrow and treat our books.
Students are allowed 2 books to borrow for 2 weeks. Each child will have an opportunity to visit
the library once a week, schedules will be made next week. We have learning about various patterns
in our environment, different colours, shapes and sizes. We practiced using unifix cubes making ab,
abc, and more complex patterns.
Needed from Home
Please send your child with a pair of their own
individual earphones labled with their name.
We will be using these daily at our literacy centres. Due to health concerns every child will
require their own set of headphones.
We are also
collecting water bottle lids. Please
send in any that you may have. Thank
you!!!
Homework
Homework books will stay at school for
marking for the weekend and will go home again Monday night.

below contains information
for parents regarding the instruction of practice strokes during the first few
days in grade one.
Reminders
To support children in becoming knowledgeable readers, the most important thing parents can do is to read aloud to their children and talk about what has been read. This nightly process supports children in developing oral language skills (the ability to talk in a fluid and understandable manner), comprehension (understanding what has been read), and sparks enthusiasm toward the act of reading. We created this downloadable document to support parents in identifying the expectations for readers during their years at PHS:
