Highlights
We wrote about our summer vacation today. We practiced printing letter “a” and “c” in
our printing books. We also had gym today.
Homework
Blue homework books have gone home today. Have your child practice printing lower case
letters “a” (5 times on 1 line) and lower case letter “c” (5 times on the next
line) and the date (please correct to Sept. 8) at the top independently. They are to say the sounds of the
letter out loud as they are printing.
Please send the books back with homework completed each day, in the
purple folders.
PURPLE FOLDERS ARE TO COME TO SCHOOL WITH YOUR
CHILD EVERYDAY. Please look at the
contents and remove what is necessary.
Printing- This link below contains
information for parents regarding the instruction of practice strokes during
the first few days in grade one.
Reminders
Please find the link to a printable pdf of what your child will be learning in Grade 1.
To support children in becoming knowledgeable readers, the most important thing parents can do is to read aloud to their children and talk about what has been read. This nightly process supports children in developing oral language skills (the ability to talk in a fluid and understandable manner), comprehension (understanding what has been read), and sparks enthusiasm toward the act of reading. We created this downloadable document to support parents in identifying the expectations for readers during their years at PHS:
