Highlights
Today we talked about the grapheme “r”
and “t”. We completed our morning math problem and had to continue an “abc”
pattern. In gym today we talked about what we do to stay active.
--Ms.
Mui’s class : We wrote about our weekend in writing. We also made a classroom graph of our
favourite colours. We interviewed David
today.
--Mrs.
Daniels’ class : We had music today…..ask me what we did! We practiced Daily 5 “read to self” we read
independently for 6 min!
Needed from Home
**Old coloured magazines/flyers. (we will be using
these to find different colours)

collecting water bottle lids. Please
send in any that you may have. Thank

Homework
Please have a look at your grapheme quiz
from Friday. Please practice at home
with your child any graphemes they may be struggling with.
-complete the homework for todays
grapheme “r” and “t”. (1 line of each) remember to say the sound as you print
the grapheme.
-Have your child think
of someone who has experienced cancer that they may want to dedicate their school
run to.
-Reading – please have
your child read around 15 min every night. This can include the at home white
readers that are going home everyday. You may also log on to “KidsA-Z” The login information is taped to your
child’s purple folder. The password is
the picture cue. (Mrs. Daniel’s class- the account information is still in my

Terry Fox Run is this Wedneday Sept 30 in the
morning, please have your child dress in red and white and weather appropriate.
Walk to School!
Last spring we invited all families attending
PHS to join with their friends and neighbours to walk to school every Wednesday
and Friday morning. Let's continue to make this simple change that results in
big benefits! We encourage you to explore the residential areas around the
school for parking spaces that are more convenient while being mindful about parking
in front of private driveways. Parking just two or three blocks away from the
school will reduce frustration and increase everyone’s safety! You may enter child in a draw if they walk to
school on these days…see the school website for details.
To support children in becoming knowledgeable
readers, the most important thing parents can do is to read aloud to their
children and talk about what has been read. This nightly process supports
children in developing oral language skills (the ability to talk in a fluid and
understandable manner), comprehension (understanding what has been read), and
sparks enthusiasm toward the act of reading. We created this downloadable

their years at PHS:
We are one week away from our schools Terry Fox Run! Lets ramp up our
fundraising efforts for this amazing cause. It is the 35th anniversary of when
Terry began his journey to raise awareness and funding to help find a cure for
