Wednesday, October 28, 2015 - Grapheme Quiz & Orange and Black Day tomorrow! Photo Retakes tomorrow for those who paid.

Important Information:
Student Voice this year has chosen some dates for spirit days. Our first spirit day will be tomorrow on Thursday, October 29th. We are going to have Orange and Black Day. Let’s show some spirit in our school by dressing in these October colours.

Highlights:
- We learned two new double-graphemes: wh, oa
- We had Gym today.
- In Science, we learned about Warm Colours and Cool Colours.

-- Ms. Mui’s class: We did “Read to Self” and we read our pumpkin poems today.  We did “Word Work” by making words using the double-graphemes we have learned.  We did “Work on Writing” and wrote about our favourite season.  In Music, we practiced the beginning part of our Winter Concert song.

-- Mrs. Daniels’ class: In Daily 5, we rotated into “Read to Self”, “Read to Someone”, “Work on Writing”, “Word Work”, and/or “Listen to Reading”.  Our Reading Buddies came into our class today to help us make our Bat art; then we read to them

-Review the learning of the “er”, “ir”, “ur”, “wor”, “ear” grapheme sounds by playing this song on youtube to remember the sounds to particular words: “Her first nurse works early”.  Please play this song at home, to help your child remember the grapheme spellings as well:

-Home-Reading – Please have your child read around 15 minutes every night.  If we run out of other titles of the Level A white paper books your child is currently reading for home-reading, please log your child onto his/her kidsa-z.com reading account to find other titles in Level A that he/she hasn’t read yet.  Then write down the title of that book onto your child’s “Reading Log”.  Your child will read 1 book a night.

-Kidsa-z.com Reading – Besides reading the at-home white readers that are going home every day, you may also log on to “Raz-Kids”, using the kidsa-z.com website.  The login information is taped on your child’s purple folder.  The password is the picture cue.
Mrs. Daniel’s class - the account information is still under her maiden name: “sbeechey”.
