Highlights:
The students whose Library Day was today got to share their 3
sentence clues for Letter B during Tell and Show. We did a morning math word
problem. We did Daily 5 rotations. We reviewed single graphemes and double
graphemes.
Ms. Mui’s class: We did a
science assessment on which objects we know are Transparent or Opaque. We did a math sorting assessment, to show
that I can sort different kinds of shapes by using which kind of attribute and
explaining what my sorting rule is. We
got a visit in the afternoon from our upcoming Grade 1 teacher in January, Mrs.
Leung-Chow! She looks like Ms. Mui and
has the same first name as her. She has
longer hair and is much taller than Ms. Mui.
During the afternoon we got to work on our Science “I Spy” colour
collage class book.
Mrs. Daniel’s class: We played a
math game called “I have…, Who has…”. We
did a making words game using the short vowel a.

The Alex
“Warm Toes Without Holes”
(ENTENSION:
last day to bring stuffed Socks in: Wednesday, Dec. 16)
The virtue of December is
“Service”, where are are learning that service means to help people in need.
The Alex is a community
health centre that welcomes homeless teenagers/youth and those who come from
poor family backgrounds, with little food and everyday necessities. As a school, we are encouraged to make socks,
stuffed with everyday essential toiletries, for these male and female
youth/teenagers, so that they can go about their every day being able to use
these items. To make your sock, buy a
long, warm pair of male or female sock (or both), roll up one of the socks and
put it into the bottom of the other sock, and stuff it inside with these items:
toothbrush, toothpaste, shampoo, body wash, soap, body lotion, shaver, shaving
cream, mittens, hand sanitizer, bus tickets to travel about the city,
McDonalds/Tim Hortons gift cards for food, etc.). The youth/teenagers who frequently visit The
Alex will be happy to receive these as their Christmas gifts. àPlease tie up your Male or Female stuffed
sock with ribbon, and label the Male or Female sock “Male” or “Female”, so The
Alex will know who the sock will be given to as a Christmas present, to keep
their feet warm this winter.
