Tell and Show – Letter A written and oral sharing next week
Grade 1 students in Ms. Mui and Mrs. Daniels’ classes will be starting Tell and Show next week.  Students will be doing their Tell and Show oral sharing on their Library day.

Mrs. Daniels and Ms. Mui have sent home the Monday and Tuesday library day students’ Tell and Show duotangs home so that they can work on their letter A sharing, to present their clues on their Monday/Tuesday sharing days.  We will send home the Wednesday/Thursday/Friday library day students’ Tell and Show duotangs on Monday, to give them a few days to work on their letter A illustration and sentence clues.  Parents, students are in Grade 1 and we ask that they learn to independently write the sentence clues and sound out the clues to their spellings.  They cannot copy down the words from an adult’s.  Instead, guide them how to sound out the letter sounds in their writing, and allow them to write their own beginning, middle, and end sounds in their writing, using finger spaces between each word, an upper case letter at the front of the sentence, and a period at the end of the sentence.

Each week we will focus on one letter of the alphabet for our tell and show.  They select an object that starts with the letter of the week, draw the object, write 3 clues (3 sentences) that describe the object, and orally present the clues to the class, and bring in the item (if they choose).  Please practice the oral sharing with your child, so that they have rehearsed their 3 sentence clues before coming to class on their Tell and Show day.

Highlights:
Way to go on your hard efforts practicing the spelling words this week, getting ready for the Word Study Quiz this morning!  Instead of 3 bonus words today, we did a bonus sentence, by writing down “I can ride my bike”.  Today we did our morning math problem and Daily 5 rotations. We have been learning more about Transparent, Translucent, and Opaque in Science.  In Gym, we have been learning how to play tennis by using a small plastic racket and ball and hitting the ball against the wall.  We have also been learning how to play badminton by hitting the birdie over the net using the badminton racket.

Ms. Mui’s class: We went to Music and Gym today.
Mrs. Daniel’s class: We went to Gym today.

Tell and Show – Letter A written and oral sharings next Monday and Tuesday for the Monday and Tuesday library students
