The Alex
“Warm Toes Without Holes”
(ENTENSION:
last day to bring stuffed Socks in: Wednesday, Dec. 16)
The virtue of December is
“Service”, where are are learning that service means to help people in need.
The Alex is a community
health centre that welcomes homeless teenagers/youth and those who come from
poor family backgrounds, with little food and everyday necessities. As a school, we are encouraged to make socks,
stuffed with everyday essential toiletries, for these male and female
youth/teenagers, so that they can go about their every day being able to use
these items. To make your sock, buy a
long, warm pair of male or female sock (or both), roll up one of the socks and
put it into the bottom of the other sock, and stuff it inside with these items:
toothbrush, toothpaste, shampoo, body wash, soap, body lotion, shaver, shaving
cream, mittens, hand sanitizer, bus tickets to travel about the city,
McDonalds/Tim Hortons gift cards for food, etc.). The youth/teenagers who frequently visit The
Alex will be happy to receive these as their Christmas gifts. àPlease tie up your Male or Female stuffed
sock with ribbon, and label the Male or Female sock “Male” or “Female”, so The
Alex will know who the sock will be given to as a Christmas present, to keep
their feet warm this winter.
