Our class had a special visitor today…
Ms. Bain! We are learning about what it
means to be a good reader. Did you know
that all good readers will: make connections, ask questions, visualize, infer
and transform their thinking. We even
got to try on special “reading power” glasses!!
Throughout the month of April, both Ms. Bain and Mrs. Gibson will be
visiting our classrooms and teaching us how to become better readers by helping
us practice these skills.
During our in-class field trip, we learned
that all structures had a job… either to contain, span or support. Both classes
came to visit Mrs. Leung-Chow’s classroom this morning and was given a building
challenge. Working together in groups of
4-5, students had to use a specific material that could span from one chair to
another. We discovered that some
materials were easier to work with than others and structures that spanned a
further distance required supports in the middle to help maintain its
integrity.
