Friday, February 26th, 2016

Highlights:
It was a morning of technology!  Did you know that you can record videos and take pictures using a program called Photobooth?  Although you can take “normal” pictures using this app, it was more fun to morph and manipulate our faces!  Some students made discoveries about the program (how to take 4 pictures at a time and making the Photo Booth window larger) and got to share their expertise with the class.  After taking time to get to know the program, some students then used the recording aspect to add a goal to IRIS.

We also got to explore on a math website called Dreambox.  Students got to pick an avatar and their own password.  Students are encouraged to explore this website further at home!

What are the different parts of the eye?  Students took a deep look today as we sketched our pupils, iris’, lashes and lids.  We practiced sketching like an artist, using whispering lines, and using several shades of a colour to fill in the iris.

Homework:
Literacy M.A.P. – Take a break for the weekend!

Tell and Show – Next week is the letter “k”.  What “killer” and “kooky” clues will you come up with?

Home Reading – Please have your child read around 20 minutes every night.  Don’t forget to ask questions and have conversations about the text.

Kidsa-z.com Reading – Besides reading the at-home white readers that are going home every day, you may also log on to “Raz-Kids”, using the kidsa-z.com website.  The login information is taped on your child’s purple folder.
