Tuesday, February 9th, 2016

Highlights:
Did you know that it takes many different people to make up a community?  We learned that everyone is important, including: firefighters, garbage collectors, police officers, teachers, doctors, veterinarians, mail deliverers and our family members!

In art we practiced the ancient art of Chinese calligraphy.  Instead of using letters to represent words, Chinese people use characters.  The boys and girls wrote the year 2016 using a paintbrush, ink and a paper.

Miss Atwal is back from her injury and was feeling a little scared to come back to gym.  The students helped her come up with some safety rules for gymnastics, then they got to play a game of “Angry Birds”.

Mrs. Daniel’s class made special envelopes today with their Reading Buddies.  Mrs. Leung-Chow’s class will make them tomorrow.

Homework:
Literacy M.A.P. – Word List #9: Don’t forget to study for the quiz tomorrow!
Monday: look, read, book, school
Tuesday: teacher, street, went then
Wednesday: Word Study Quiz!

Tell and Show – This week is letter “H”.   If you usually share your Tell and Show on Thursday or Friday, please bring it in tomorrow (as there is no school on either of those days).

Home Reading – Please have your child read around 20 minutes every night.  Don’t forget to ask questions and have conversations about the text.

Kidsa-z.com Reading – Besides reading the at-home white readers that are going home every day, you may also log on to “Raz-Kids”, using the kidsa-z.com website.  The login information is taped on your child’s purple folder.
